Bringing a Small Garden to Life

New Glarus Village Administrator Bryan Gadow, Norma Bader with the Green County Master Gardeners and Brenda Siegenthaler of Brenda's Blumenladen.

The small community garden has been on the corner of 5th Avenue and Railroad Street in New Glarus for some 10-15 years. After visiting with Mike and Teresa Colney, Norma Bader learned that they started these plantings for a special New Glarus event long ago. Brenda Siegenthaler donated flowering plants a few years ago for Norma to plant. Then the big, old Ash Tree spread its canopy and its roots, making a shaded garden for perennials only! The last several years, Norma has used only the original perennials started long ago, and they continued to multiply. Plenty of plants have grown and...
