Scott D. Hodgson

Scott David Hodgson, age 54, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017, in Carmel, IN. He was born on August 1, 1954, in Monroe, WI, to David and Barbara (Frey) Hodgson and grew up in New Glarus.

Scott graduated from New Glarus High School in 1980 and then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Scott worked in the insurance industry his entire life, starting with Rear-Hodgson Insurance in New Glarus and then General Casualty, which became QBE. Scott was looking forward to celebrating 30 years with QBE; at the time of his death he was the North American Vice President of U.S. Midwest and Central Territories. Scott was a former member of the Edelweiss Chalet Country Club in New Glarus and had participated in the Wilhelm Tell Pageant for many years, the last fifteen in the role of Wilhelm Tell. Family and friends were of utmost importance to Scott. He was the kindest most sincere person and will be dearly missed by his wife, family, and friends. Scott cherished spending time with his wife and their German Shepherd dogs. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed cheering on his Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. Scott was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed touring the countryside on his Harley Davidson.

Scott is survived by his wife, Sandy; parents; brothers, Steve (Theresa) Hodgson and Craig (Amy) Hodgson; aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Ellen Frey and Ben and Marguerite Hodgson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with Pastor Petra Streiff officiating.

A celebration of Scott's life will follow at the Edelweiss Chalet Country Club, W4764 Edelweiss Road, New Glarus, WI.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
