Earl R. Jacobson, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at the New Glarus Home. He was born on May 17, 1934, in Belleville to his parents, Jacob and Barbara (Urben) Jacobson.

Earl graduated from New Glarus High School in 1952, and then Madison Business College. On September 23, 1961, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Grimstad at the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, where he was baptized and confirmed. Later he attended the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus. Earl worked as a maintenance engineer for Green County for many years.

Earl is survived by his wife, Marge; children, Eric (Amanda) Jacobson, Kari Jacobson Broge, and Lori Jacobson; and grandchildren, Dayne and Elyse. He is further survived by his brother, Robert (Gloria) Jacobson; sister, Hazel Zweifel; sister-in-law, Mary Affeld; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Terry "Koolaid" Broge; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and June Jacobson; sister, Verna Jacobson; brother-in-law, Arthur Zweifel; nephew, James Zweifel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Clara Grimstad; and his aunts and uncles.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Perry Lutheran Church, 1057 State Road 78, Mount Horeb, WI, with Pastor Michelle Elfers officiating. Interment of cremains followed in the church cemetery.

A gathering of relatives and friends was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI.
