Karen M. Zuber, age 82 of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at her home. She was born on May 11, 1934, in Highland, WI, to her parents, Cecil and Alice (Nelson) Ayen.

Karen graduated from Belleville High School in 1952. On June 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to John J. Zuber at the Montrose Church. John and Karen moved to the farm outside Monticello in 1960 and the couple moved to town from the farm in 1980. Karen was a homemaker and later worked in the kitchen for the Monticello School District. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and all kinds of other crafts, and had made quilts for each grandchild and great-grandchild. She was also an avid sports fan, cheering the Packers and celebrating the 2016 Cubs World Series Championship with her husband. Karen followed politics and liked to engage in lively discussions with others about the news. She also enjoyed the trips to "the boat" and getaways with good friends Art and Rose Silver.

Karen is survived by her husband, John; children, Randy (Madeline) Zuber, Jeff (Anita) Zuber, and Mary (Dan) Stenbroten; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leah Elmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Stanley Ayen, Keith Ayen, and Orland Ayen.

A gathering of relatives and friends was held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday, February 20, 2017, at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Avenue, Monticello, WI.

A private family memorial service, officiated by Pastor Lance Smith, will be held, with inurnment in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude's Children's Fund.
