ALLAN L. BABLER

 

Allan L. Babler

Allan L. "Lefty" Babler, age 72, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 16, 2016, surrounded by his family after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer. Allan was born in Monroe, WI, on January 25, 1944, the son of Herman and Emma (Wyss) Babler.

He graduated from Monticello High School where he was an all-state basketball player.  He started his career as a barber, and then went to work in sales at Montgomery Wards for many years, ending his career at Home Depot in Aurora, IL.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his annual trips to Hayward, WI, where he also took his children and grandsons to enjoy the up north.

He attended numerous sporting events for his son and grandson.

Allan is survived by his two children, Lisa (Robert Perez) Babler of San Ramon, CA, and Dan (Kari) Babler; his four grandsons, Patrick (Meredith) Johnson, Brandon, Jake and Drew Babler; his two great-grandsons, Matthew and Alex Johnson, all of Aurora; and his sisters, Bev (Darrell) Hilliard of Monroe, WI, and Jean (Ronald) Shippy of Middleton, WI.  Allan is also survived by the mother of his children, LaVonne Babler-Hawking; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many special friends.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Donald Babler.

Visitation will be held on October 28, 2016, from 4:00 p.m., until the service hour of 6:00 p.m., at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506.

Friends are also invited to join a celebration of Allan at Mike & Denise's Pizza 1760 N. Farnsworth Ave, Aurora, IL 60505.

Interment is 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at the Highland Cemetery in Monticello, WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Neighbors Next Door, 700 Audrey Ave., Aurora, IL 60505, where Allan spent his last few days of life while being cared for by family.
