As a community effort to put Belleville on the map, or galaxy, members of Belleville Improvement Group (BIG) and the Kiwanis Club of Belleville worked to promote the community of 1,300 back in 1987.

People involved included Bob Belle, Gary Bahr, Paul Ziehli, Pete McDonald, Ralph Macknick, Jerry Wiessner, Paul Cate, and others from the community, volunteered and organized the first UFO Day.
