ELDONNA M. CROOKS
Eldonna M. Crooks, age 74 of Monroe and formerly of Monticello, died Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Eldonna was born on April 6, 1942, in Monroe, the daughter of Gilbert and Emma (Fahrney) Zweifel.
She graduated from Belleville High School in 1960 and Madison School of Beauty in 1961. She married Jacob S. Crooks on December 9, 1961, in New Glarus. Eldonna and Jacob farmed in New Glarus and Albany until Jacob's death on May 8, 2001. She loved gardening, her flowers, taking care of the farm animals, and in her younger years she enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
She is survived by five children, Debra (Pete) Cline of Brodhead, Ricky (Marcia) Crooks of Darlington, Randy (Sue) Crooks, Rodney Crooks (Bonnie Klitzke) both of Monticello, and Ronny (Abby) Crooks of Monroe; nine grandchildren, David (Katie) Cline, Nick Metz, Heather (Aaron) Deckert, Lisa Tesch, John Elmer, Keith (Karen) Elmer, Angie (Shaun) Karlen, Amanda Hartman, and Logan Crooks; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert (Jean) Zweifel of Albany; three sisters, Judy (Tom) Dickson of Frisco, TX, Linda (Gary) Anderson of Monroe, and Marjorie (Frankie) Best of Belleville.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Reverend Lance Smith officiating. Interment followed in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation was held at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello, on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
