Rolland "Rollie" E. Hustad entered the Kingdom of God on August 30, 2016. He was born May 9, 1922, to Arthur H. and Ada (Ula) Hustad.
He attended the Plainview rural school and graduated from New Glarus High School in 1939. He was a life-long member of York Memorial Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1936. On April 4, 1944, he was united in marriage to Betty Louise Sivesind. Betty predeceased him after 53 years of marriage on February 16, 1997. He then married Doris (Vamstad) Rear in 1998, and she passed away on March 18, 2016.

He is also survived by his sister, Ava; and sister-in-law, Lorraine; as well as nieces and nephews. He is further survived by Doris' children, Bruce, Brian, and Connie; and step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Rolland was preceded in death by his parents; wives; brother, Clayton, and his wife, Myrna; and brother, Phillip; as well as Doris' son, Frank; and daughter-in-law, Lori.
Rolland was a proud third-generation farmer of the family homestead in Hustad Valley. It was there that his kids and grandkids shared in the adventures farm life, from 4-H cattle projects, bike rides, hay rides, Jeep tours of the farm, picking wildflowers, to watching Rudolph lead Santa on his way after dropping presents at the farm and sometimes Santa would even appear in the house. His family brought him great joy and it wasn't unusual to see him giving "horsey rides" or wrestling on the floor with the kids.
Music was a big part of Rolland's life. He loved to dance and play the piano by ear. When he was young, he had his own one-man band, playing the harmonica and the banjo uke, and singing in the church choir.
He served as president of the Sugar River Watershed, Chairman of New Glarus Township, forty-year Member of Sons of Norway, Vennelag 513 in Mount Horeb, various church offices, and member of the Plainview School Board. Rolland was a proud donor of 15 gallons of blood over his lifetime.

Final Harvest: He was bound to the land from the day of his birth. His roots anchored deep in the fertile earth. Nurtured, sustained, by the soil he grew. And his life, like his furrows, ran straight and true. In faith, each spring, he planted the seeds. In hope, to reap his family's needs. With patience he waited for the harvest to come. To gather the fruits of his labor home. Ever turning seasons, the years sped past. Til the final harvest came at last. Then claimed anew by beloved sod. He was gathered home to be with God.
