AUGUST MOEN
August "Augie" Moen, age 66 of Monticello, died on Sunday, August 28, 2016, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on September 7, 1949, to Amos and Verna (Steensland) Moen.
Augie grew up and went to school in Blanchardville, graduating from Blanchardville High School in 1967. He served in the United States Navy for six years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his sons, Doug and Brian. On October 22, 2005, he married Barbara (Reifsnider) Handrow in Las Vegas. Augie worked in the IT field for 40 years, including time at UW and the State of Wisconsin and most recently at Smart Solutions (Department of Justice) in Madison. He loved music, motorcycles, his Mercedes, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his mother, Verna of Dodgeville; two sons, Douglas Ebneter of Las Vegas, NV, and Brian (Carla) Moen of Parker, CO; two step-daughters, Jayme (Jeremy) Schwoch of Horicon and Tanya (Tony) Kufalk of Burnett; his grandchildren, Caylah, Ryan and Heather, Morgan, Riley, and Lina, Janessa, Dylan, Shawne, and Ashlynn, Nicholas and Kayelee; his siblings, Glen (Diane) Moen of Madison, Marie Meyer of Mt. Horeb, Dennis (Jan) Moen of Tucson, AZ, Marcia (Bob) Pilling of Mineral Point, Kevin (Theresa) Moen of Mineral Point, Carolyn (Greg) Clerkin of Barneveld; a brother-in-law, Jim McKeon of Blanchardville; in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; three siblings, Donald and Rolfe Moen and Norma McKeon; a brother-in-law, Russell Horne; two nephews, Brian McKeon and Jacob Moen; and a great-nephew, Mason Wedige.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Perry Lutheran Church, 1057 Hwy 78 S, Daleyville (Rural Mount Horeb), WI, with Pastor Kelli Fisher officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m.– 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 2, 2016, at Perry Lutheran Church.
The Ellestad Camacho Funeral Home, 500 N. 8th Street, Mount Horeb, WI, is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be preferred.
The family would like to thank the New Glarus, Blanchardville, and Green County first responders and the passerby who performed CPR and called for help.
