VIRGINIA F. NICHOLS

Virginia F. Nichols

Virginia "Ginny" F. Nichols died peacefully at home on Friday, July 29, 2016. She was 83 years old, having been born on July 30, 1932, in Delavan, Illinois.

She moved to Woodstock, Illinois, in 1937 with her parents, Elwood and Lois Howell. Her father was an agricultural teacher and dairy farmer and her mother was a homemaker.

She met her husband, David L. Nichols, at a high school basketball game in 1949. They were married on June 21, 1952, and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

The Nichols family moved from Illinois to a farm south of Belleville, on County W, in 1967. In the mid-1970s, the farm was sold and subsequently they built a house in Belleville. In 1981 they purchased a farm on County CC, south of Belleville, and lived there until they sold it in 2011 to move to a condominium on the north side of town.

Virginia belonged to the Methodist Church in Belleville. She worked for the Belleville Public Library for 24 years, retiring in 2000. She was very active in the Belleville Home Makers, Library Book Clubs, Senior Citizens and Kiwanis. She also delivered food for Meals on Wheels for several years. In addition, she was an avid gardener and reader (with a fondness for mysteries).

Virginia is survived by her husband, David; her brother, Elwood Howell of Long Island, New York; her sister, Phyllis Schmidt of Wautoma, Wisconsin; and her six children, Jeff, Scott, Dan, John, Nancy and Tom. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI, with Pastor George Kaminski officiating.

A visitation will precede the service from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Grace United Methodist Church in Belleville.

An online memorial with guestbook is available at http://www.bealfuneralhomes.com.
