Swiss Youth Band To Visit New Glarus – Host Families Needed!
Knabenmusik St. Gallen, a youth band from Switzerland, is visiting the United States this summer and has chosen New Glarus as one of its prime spots to visit. The ensemble consists of 70 young musicians between the ages of 13 and 25. The group is touring the Midwest as part of The Blue Lake International Exchange Program and is very excited to visit the community known as America’s Little Switzerland.
Because the group is touring as an exchange program, we need families to host the members and directors. The dates the ensemble will be in New Glarus are July 10-13, 2016! We would like to ask you to consider hosting one, two or more students for these dates.
The group will arrive on July 10th, at 4:00 p.m., and meets hosts and then will spend the evening in the host home. On Monday and Tuesday, the members of the ensemble will do some touring of the area and then return to the host home for the evening. Hosts would provide transportation to and from the bus and meals during the stay in New Glarus. On Tuesday, July 12th, the Knabenmusik St. Gallen will provide a thank you concert in New Glarus at 7:00 p.m., before leaving on the morning of July 13th.
We need hosts now! If you live in New Glarus, Monticello, Belleville, Blanchardville, Monroe, or the surrounding area, and are able to host members of the Knabenmusik St. Gallen, please contact any member of the Männerchor New Glarus, Jodlerklub New Glarus or Tim Wurgler at (608) 513-5585 or email twurgler@wsmamusic.org as soon as possible. We hope you will consider helping with this opportunity to connect our community with our guests from Switzerland and sharing our hospitality and pride of our communities.
