ALVIN J. GMUR

 


Alvin J. Gmur, age 72 of rural Darlington, WI, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016, at William S. Middleton VA Hospital in Madison. He was born September 10, 1943, to Joseph and Lillian (Schuetz) Gmur.

Alvin attended Meadow Valley School and New Glarus High School. He was formerly married to Sandra Grossen. Alvin worked for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. in Freeport for 27 years, and was a carrier for the Monroe Times. He was a proud veteran of the U.S Marine Corps, and life member of the New Glarus VFW Post #10549.

Alvin is survived by his two brothers, Jacob (Carole) Gmur of Madison and Bob (Chris) Gmur of Lodi. He is further survived by step-children, Mark (Sherri) Hanna and Daryn Hanna; step-grandchildren, Chelsea (Kyle), Briana (Randy), Cazanovia Madyson; step-great-grandchildren, Kathrina, Brigitte, McKenna, Japanga, Carter, Hunter and Daniel. He is also survived by many nieces; nephews; and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Alvin’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the American Legion Post #84, 1627 Twelfth Ave, Monroe, WI, near the corner of Highway 69 South and 17th St. Military honors will be given at 3:00 p.m.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
