CAROL D. KOCH

 

Carol D. Koch, age 83 of Monticello, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at her home. She was born on December 19, 1932, in rural Green County, the daughter of George and Frances (Stubbe) Ellefson.

She attended a rural school. Carol married Elwood R. Koch on May 7, 1950, in Monroe. Carol farmed with her husband on the family farm her entire life. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and knitting, flowers and gardening, and jig saw puzzles. Carol loved to cook, and one of her biggest joys was cooking for family.

She is survived by her son, Michael Koch of Monticello; daughters, Margaret (Fred) Beckman and Susan Martinez, both of Monroe; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Gerald (Ella) Ellefson, both of Monroe; three sisters, Viola Fox of Browntown, Vera Block of Monroe, and Lyla (Herbert) Krause of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood; son in infancy, Duane; a grandson, Jeffery Koch; sister, Helen Indergand; brothers, Ralph and Gene Ellefson.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial is in Saucerman cemetery. A visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
