JANETTE R. STREIFF

 

Janette Rose Streiff, age 83 of New Glarus, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on January 19, 1932, in Monroe, WI, to her parents, Henry and Phyllis (Freitag) Pauli.

Janette graduated from New Glarus High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Earl Schneider, and then later in life after Earl's passing she married Kenneth Streiff. Janette worked at Erb Implement and as bookkeeper at Disch Hardware for many years. Janette enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and was an avid Brewers fan. She was a lifelong member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus, where she was involved in mission work to Mexico, El Salvador, and Mississippi.

Janette is survived by her children, Mike (Donna) Schneider of Cincinnati, OH, and Dan (Sue) Schneider of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, DeJay (Jaime Kogler) Schneider, Jennifer (Tyler) Olds, and Jake Schneider; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Olds and Grayson and Kade Schneider. She is further survived by her brother, Dennis (Judy) Pauli; sister, Valliere Boll; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earl and Kenneth; and a brother, Steve.

A time of remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with the Rev. William Wineke officiating.

A gathering of relatives and friends will follow the time of remembrance from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 14, 2016, in the fellowship hall of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the New Glarus Home, the Glarner Lodge, UW-Health Belleville, St. Mary's Hospital, and Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. for their kind and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Swiss United Church of Christ or All God's Children.
