Green Cares Holiday Fundraiser December 6th

Green Cares Food Pantry, located on CTH C west of Monticello, serves all eligible Green County families (those families under 185% of poverty) with approximately one week’s worth of perishable and non-perishable food. Canned vegetables and fruits, in-season fresh vegetables and fruits, bread, and frozen meat are just some of the food items provided at each visit. A family may visit the Pantry once each month for food.

Green Cares Food Pantry is somewhat unique because it operates without any paid staff members. Approximately 40 volunteers handle the day-to-day operations of the Pantry. In addition to the volunteers, the Pantry is dependent upon food and monetary donations and support to remain open.

Currently Green Cares serves between 700 and 750 unduplicated individuals each month. The needs of Green County families are increasing. Participation in the Pantry has increased by 15% from 2014 to 2015. In fact, in the month of October 2015, Green Cares served the highest number of families since it opened: 242 families, or 750 individuals.

Please join us in supporting Green Cares Food Pantry at the 3rd Annual Holiday Fundraiser on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Barnaby’s Monticello House from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The holiday party is a dressy affair, with sparkling wine, elegant small bites, and holiday music by Andy Yaun and Julie Ruegsegger. The cost is only $30 per person. Prepayments or cash donations can be sent to Green Cares Holiday Fundraiser, PO Box 2, Monticello, WI 53570. Participants are also welcome to pay at the door. For more information, contact Barbara Duerst at (608) 938-4458 or Renee Henning at (608) 558-6767.

The Fundraiser will feature a Dessert Auction. Partygoers will be able to bid on Pies, Cheesecakes, or Cakes. If you are interested in donating a pie, cake, or cheesecake to be auctioned at the event, please contact Laura Eyler at (608) 558-2953.
