Emily F. Kubly

 

Emily "Lee" F. Kubly, age 92, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015, following a recent illness. She was born on January 13, 1923, to her parents, Vernon and Florence (Ackerman) Hill, in Tulsa, OK.

Lee graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio and then moved to Spring Green, WI, to own and operate the Spring Green Home News along with her family for over 50 years. On October 28, 1989, she was united in marriage to Herbert Kubly of New Glarus. Lee was an avid reader and followed current events in the news along with publishing several teenage novels. She also loved to create art through her paintings and appliques.

Lee is survived by her stepson, Alex (Tina) Marlis; three grandsons, Niko Marlis, John (Mariana) Marlis, and Kris (Rebecca) Marlis; seven great-grandchildren, Dina, Ana, Alex, Antonis, Ali, Mati and Kosta. She is further survived by her nieces, Bonnie (Jim) Geyer, Wendy (Steve) Tupper and Mary Dibble; and nephew, Nic (Mary) Dibble.

A visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, followed by a graveside burial at the EUB Cemetery in New Glarus.
