Eva Zweifel

 

Eva Zweifel, age 102 of New Glarus, died on Monday, July 20, 2015, at the New Glarus Home. She was born on January 16, 1913, in the Town of Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Herman and Wilma (Schwartzlow) Ringhand.

Eva attended the Babler Country School. On November 3, 1934, she married Clarence Zweifel in Freeport, IL. They farmed side by side in the Town of Primrose until 1952 when they moved to New Glarus. Eva retired from Strickler's Meat Market in 1974. In retirement, Eva enjoyed the Sugar River Trail, bowling, fishing, traveling and playing cards. After Clarence passed away in 1990, Eva enjoyed guiding tours at the Swiss Historical Village. In 2003 Eva was recognized as a 60-year volunteer for the American Red Cross. She had also been a long time member of the Swiss United Church of Christ.

Eva is survived by her grandson, Scott, and granddaughter-in-law, Jenni Neuman, of DeForest, WI, and their children, Sam and Lilly; a granddaughter, Michelle, and grandson-in-law, Randy Naatz, of Janesville, WI, and their children, Ashley and Zachary; a brother, Walter (Berdadine) Ringhand of Monroe, WI; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1990; and her daughter, Kathleen in 1997.

A family funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 27, 2015, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus, the Rev. William Wineke officiated at the burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

Relatives and friends called from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Eva's name to the Swiss Historical Village in New Glarus.
