Robert W. Braem
Robert William Braem, age 93 of Monticello, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at his home. He was born on September 2, 1921, in Marshfield, WI, to his parents, Herman and Linda (Schaefer) Braem.
Bob graduated from Marshfield High School and attended the DeForest School of Electronics. During World War II, he served as an armorer in the Army Air Force in England. On May 18, 1957, he was united in marriage to Sally Rohrer at Clintonville, WI. Bob worked for Republic Airlines in electronics repair and maintenance for many years, starting at Truax in Madison and later at Midway, before retiring as an electronics maintenance supervisor at O'Hare Airport. Following Bob and Sally's retirements, they opened the first Bed and Breakfast in Green County, with the Albany Guest House. Later they operated a rooming house in Monticello. Bob was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus. He also enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, and was a diehard Cub's fan. Bob especially enjoyed baseball, he umpired high school and Little League games for many years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sally, of Monticello, WI; children, Janet (John Walsh) Murray of Monticello, WI, Judith M. (Jeff) Treadway of Centerville, OH, Robert H. Braem of Rockford, IL, Susan Gregor of Lisle, IL, Anne M. (Tom) Schroeder of Chandler, AZ, Sally J. (Mark) Manthei, of Wheaton, IL, and Steven L. Braem of Glen Ellyn, IL; grandchildren, James (Jessica), Jason, Ariell, Alex, Georgia, Elliot, Michal, Page (Chris), Sara, Luke, Jaclyn, Erin, Emily, and Jessica. He is further survived by his sisters, Delores Leitner of Marshfield, WI, and Dorothy (Harold) Hancock of New Richmond, WI; and brother-in-law, Jim Huber of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Helen, Esther, Carol, William, James and Joyce.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 506 Twelfth Ave, New Glarus, WI, with the Rev. Gene Talley officiating, followed by full military honors.
A gathering of relatives and friends preceded the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
