Public Access Offered at Dane County Shooting Range
Starting Saturday, April 11th, the public will again have the opportunity to take aim on the shooting ranges at the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center.
Thanks to an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the shooting ranges will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the summer. For a small fee of $10.00, shooters will have access to all five ranges at the facility. Each of the five ranges provides a different type of shooting environment. They include a 100-yard rifle range, and a 15-yard pistol range. Shooters are not limited in the time they spend on the range, unless all ranges are full and others are waiting. Target stands are provided, but shooters should bring their own targets, and eye and ear protection.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A minor must be at least 12-years-old and present proof of enrollment or completion of the DNR Hunter Safety Program.
The Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center is located at 5184 Highway 19 in the town of Westport, just one mile east of the intersection of Highway 113 and CTH I.
