March 15, 2018
Leaora Miller
Age: 40
Occupation: Respite Care Worker
Years lived in village: 40
Incumbent? No
Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: No
Why are you running for village board? As a lifelong resident of the village of Monticello, I was to take an active part in leading the village into the future. I understand the needs that the village faces for my and my children's generations. Having been a representation on the Public Safety Committee, my interests have expanded to other areas of our local government.
What issues do you find most important to the village board? List your top three priorities: After attending board meetings for over a year, I have learned that the village is facing numerous issues. I believe that we most definetly need to address the financial constraints including the proposed referendum. The Waste Water Treatment Plant is in need of updating because of its obsolete parts and phosphorus limits imposed by the DNR. I would like to see Monticello become a leader in attracting business development. It would benefit not only our village but also our school tax base.
If you could reverse one village action, what would that be? Having watched the village board, I am comfortable with most all of the decisions they have made, but I do wish they would have retained an assistant clerk for staffing the front office.
Any additional comments? It would be my privilege and honor to serve on the village board. I would listen to my constituents concerns and do my best to inform them.
