Ronald O. Schneider, age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at his home. He was born on December 23, 1935, in Monroe, WI, the son of Oswald and Louisa (Blum) Schneider.
Ronnie graduated from New Glarus High School in 1953. On April 30, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carol Johnson. After Carol died, Ronnie married Cheryl Marty on October 3, 1970. Ronnie worked for YooHoo in Mt. Horeb, Pet Milk, and Baker Manufacturing prior to working at Federal Industries in Belleville for 24 years until retiring in 1999. Ron was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and served two terms on the New Glarus Village Board, along with being a 33-year member of the New Glarus Fire Department, serving seven years as Assistant Chief. Sometimes know as "Ronnie Bars" he tended bar at the New Glarus Hotel and Puempel's Olde Tavern where he would throw in a yodel from behind the bar. Ronnie also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and attending many sporting events.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, Jay (Deb) Schneider, Jan (Dennis) Moen, Julie (Pat) McGann, Jody Schultz, Staci Beckman, and Todd (Jessica) Schneider; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Luke) Steel, Kevin Schneider, Jacob and Spencer Schultz, Katie McGann, Jillian and Calin Schneider, and Abigail Beckman; and great-grandchildren, Violet and Arthur Steel. He is further survived by a sister, Janet Blanc; sisters-in-law, Patty (Gary) Best and Kathy Sies; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; daughter, Jennifer Crubaugh; great-grandson, Devon Steel; sister, Lila Reinking; and son-in-law, Jeff Schultz.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with Rev. Pat Pluss officiating. Inurnment will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus, WI. A gathering will precede the memorial service from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
