MAHS is celebrating their (2-year delayed) 25th Anniversary. The Monticello Area Historical Society was founded in 1995 by Marlene Schmalbeck. She saw the area's history being sold at auctions and garage sales, and wanted to do something to preserve local history.

In 2001, Ruth Knight Sybers purchased the shuttered Woelffer Drug Store building and generously donated it to the society for use as a museum. The ribbon cutting for the opening of the museum was in 2007. Society members and friends have collected and cataloged artifacts, photographs and family documents pertinent to the Monticello area, as well as pharmacy items found in the building.

The Museum is maintained through donations and volunteers. The museum is open every Saturday starting in May through October. Hours are 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and admission is free.

Plan to re-connect and share ideas with the MAHS members Thursday evening, April 28th, starting at 6:30 p.m.
