Jason M. Henson

Jason Michael Henson (Big Hoss, Bubby, or Cornbread), 24, passed away from COVID related issues at Halifax Medical Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL, on August 11, 2021. He was born September 13, 1996, at Monroe Clinic, Monroe, WI, the son of William R. Henson and Heide Bannick Duerst.

Jason was a 2015 graduate of New Smyrna High School, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he was very active in the FFA. Jason grew up in Monticello, WI, where he attended Monticello Schools up until his junior year when he moved to Florida in 2013 to be with his father. During his time in school, he was active in soccer, football, baseball, and FFA.

Jason was a truck driver for Masci Construction in Port Orange, FL, where he had many coworker/friends, especially Bill, Jeremy, and Jackie. Jason (Bubby) had a "second family" that he lived with from 2015 to 2020, that were very special to him, Dan and Crystal Dyett and "brothers", Tyler and Gage. They meant the world to him, as he did to them.

In his free time, Jason loved to go hunting, fishing, golfing, Halloween (was his favorite time of year, all year), and spending time with his friends. He also loved making people laugh with his silly and prankster ways. He enjoyed hanging out and fishing with his best friend, Joe, and spending time with best friend, Kelsi. Jason also enjoyed spending his time with special friend, Sarah Tovar, and daughter, Lexi, who Jason loved very much. He would hang out with his foreman, Jeremy (Anna), and good friend, Bill, at his favorite restaurant Texas Roadhouse on many a Friday night after work.

To many, Jason had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He would go above and beyond. Many of times he would put his needs aside to help out a friend. He will truly be missed by many.

Jason was predeceased by his nephew, Darren Michael Quick; paternal grandfather, Gary Henson; and maternal grandfather, Rodney Bannick.

He is survived by mother, Heide (Nick) Duerst (Theodosia, MO); father, Bill (Danette) Henson (New Smyrna, FL); sister, Jessie (Dylan) Quick (Prairie du Chein, WI); and nephew, Gabriel; stepbrothers, Clark Schaller and nephew Cayden, and Zachary Schaller, and Andrew and Tommy; stepsisters, Karlie (Anthony) Maggio and Sydnee Schaller and niece Aria; maternal grandmother, Sally (Dennis) Zickert; paternal grandmother, Diana Henson; aunt, Tammy Bannick (John Casey); uncle, Allen (Cindy) Bannick; and cousins, Nicole and Katie; step-grandparents, Ardis (Lee) Strack; and many more great-aunts, uncles, and cousins; very close friends/family, Dan and Crystal Dyett and "brothers" Tyler and Gage. Jason also leaves behind special friend, Sarah Tovar and her daughter, Lexi. Best friends, Joe, Kelsi, Jeremy, Bill, Jackie and many, many more.
