New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services to Host 9/11 Anniversary Tribute
Silent Procession of Emergency Response, Military, and Rescue Vehicles Planned to Give Public "A Morning to Remember"
September 2, 2021
New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is hosting a public remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11, on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 8:00 a.m.
A silent procession of emergency, military, and rescue vehicles will wind through the village of New Glarus that morning, starting at the New Glarus High School, at 1701 2nd Street, and going to the Village Park at 300 Railroad Street. If the silent parade has not concluded by 8:46 a.m., there will be 3 blasts of an air horn, and a sudden stop of all vehicles and personnel, to represent a moment of silence of when the first plane struck the North Tower.
Following the procession, there will be a remembrance ceremony at the Village Park.
"This event will provide our community and region an opportunity to reflect and pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice that morning and those who protect and serve their communities and country today," New Glarus Area EMS Chief Kristie Mueller said.
Emergency vehicles from across the region are welcome to participate in this event.
New Glarus Area EMS provides around the clock 911 ambulance service to portions of northern Green and southern Dane Counties, including the Village and Town of New Glarus.
