Robert A. Strahm

Robert A. Strahm, 85 years old, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at his home in St. Charles, Missouri. Bob was born on August 25, 1935, to Robert C. Strahm and Adeline Landmark Strahm at Strahm's corners at Highway 39 and County Hwy J, in rural New Glarus.

He attended Bem Country School from first through eighth grade. After graduating from New Glarus High School in 1953, Bob enlisted in the Air Force and persevered through boot camp at Sheppard AFB in sweltering Wichita Falls, Texas. He then graduated from Aircraft Mechanic School in Riverside, California. Bob lived in France for three years and had many stories to tell of his travels while serving. After leaving the AF, he worked in Washington, D.C., before joining McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, MO. In 1965, Bob met the love of his life, Patricia Brown, in St. Louis and they were married a year later. In 1969, Bob began working for TWA as a jet mechanic at Los Angeles International Airport and moved with his family to California. His two children, twins Renee and Robert, were born in Los Angeles in 1974. The family traveled frequently and several times when the plane had mechanical problems, he would get off the airplane and fix it so that they could continue on with their vacation. In 1976, he was transferred back to St. Louis and he retired from TWA in 1997.
