The New Glarus Home recently announced that they are welcoming back visitors to the New Glarus Home Campus. On Monday, March 22nd, residents on the 400, 500 and 600 wings, who are not in quarantine, began having visitors. Phase two will begin Wednesday, March 31st, with residents on the remaining units able to receive visitors.
Visitors to the campus are required to follow these core principles of infection prevention:
You will be asked a series of questions that must be answered truthfully.
You will be offered an Antigen COVID-19 test. Results will be available in 15 minutes and must be negative before entering resident care areas. Results will be reported to the CDC through their NHSN reporting portal.
You must perform hand hygiene upon entry to the facility, before and after visiting, and after touching your face or face mask.
You will be given a name badge to wear, identifying you as a visitor. Please wear it during your visit and return it to the check-in station when you leave.
You must maintain a social distance of 6 feet from other people.
A medical grade mask will be provided. You must wear it the entire time you are in the building.
You must follow the route given to your designated visiting area, and return following the same route. You may not deviate from that route, or stop to visit with other residents, staff or visitors along the way.
We ask that you not unnecessarily touch handrails, doorknobs, bedside tables or other surfaces in the lounges, resident rooms or hallways.
The number of visitors that can see one resident is dependent on space availability.
The length of visits will be based on the number of visit requests and space availability. We ask that you be considerate of other visitors waiting.
We acknowledge the toll that separation and isolation has taken. We also acknowledge that there is no substitute for physical contact, such as a warm embrace. If the resident that you are visiting is fully vaccinated and consents to close contact, including touch, you may do so briefly. Perform hand hygiene before and after, and then return to social distancing.
Visitors that are unable or unwilling to adhere to these core principles of COVID-19 Infection Prevention will not be permitted, or will be asked to leave.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the New Glarus Home at (608) 527-2126.
