The Monticello Community Club will be grilling 500 half chickens this year. Half chickens will be sold at $7.00 each (not a complete dinner…just chicken). The basting recipe remains the same as what’s used at Homecoming.

You must order your chicken in advance. Preorder before January 29th at Gempeler’s Supermarket, Boar’s Nest, Eagle Pass, Shawnas, M&M Café, Kubly Tire & Service Station, or Main Street Salon. Print your full name, phone number and quantity of half chickens you would like.

If you are home-bound and have no one to pick up your chicken, call Carol Strause and leave a message at (608) 293-4994 or email strauseacres@gmail.com. A Community Club member will deliver your chicken to you on January 31st.

On the day of the Chickaree, all preordered chicken must be picked up between 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., at the Octagon Shelter area at Lake Montesian. After 11:30 a.m., any chicken not picked up will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Make your check payable to the Monticello Community Club. Preordering is the only way to go; otherwise, you might be out in the cold! All COVID protocol must be followed.

Unless there is a blizzard, extremely cold temps, and/or high winds, we promise to grill chicken. See you soon.
