Construction on 2nd Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues began on September 30, 2019.
On Saturday, October 5, 2019, Herman Pfund was laid to rest. Members of the New Glarus Fire Department, along with the Fitchburg Fire Department Honor Guard, paid tribute to Pfund with a salute and a procession that escorted him to the cemetery on Hwy 92. Pfund’s last ride was in an antique fire truck. He had been a member of Fitchburg Fire Department and was the department’s first chief. He had also been a member of the New Glarus Fire Department for many years.
