Mike O’Connor celebrated 30 years as a State Farm agent.
Belleville Public Library’s summer reading program wrapped up with a performance by Magician Jeff McMullen and a picnic in Library Park on July 26th.
Belleville’s annual Community Picnic was held from August 8-11, 2019, at Sugar River Park, with some events being held at Community Park.
Belleville Troop 61 celebrated their 50th anniversary with a celebration at Belleville’s Library Park on Saturday August 24, 2019.
Winners Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom program annual culinary contest at the Wisconsin State Fair were announced. Belleville’s Beth Campbell won first place and $100 for her Wonderful Wisconsin Dressing.
On Saturday, August 10, Scott Kummer and Adam Benkers, from Ten Junk Miles Racing, presented Police Chief Eichelkraut with a $1,000 donation to the Shop with a Cop program.
LuAnn and Bill Pauli, were pictured with Bill’s mom Marie holding the Century Farm sign that they received during the Wisconsin State Fair on August 6. The Pauli family received the farm sign hanging on the shed behind them from Belleville High School students and staff in appreciation of Bill driving players to sporting events. The students designed and fabricated the sign in one of Ed Neumann’s tech ed classes.
The Belleville School District welcomed several new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year: Tim Serum, Lydia Bruning, Amy Lewis, Rebecca Maas, Karlyn Rear, Ben Schwinn, Jessica Gobel, Hailey Kolasch and Amanda Nemec.

The Belleville Police and Fire Departments hosted Public Safety Night in Library Park on Thursday, September 5, 2019. One of the goals of this event is to strengthen neighborhood spirit and partnerships among public safety agencies and the community.
The Sugar River boys soccer team opened their season with a win at Dodgeville on August 27th. The final score was Sugar River 1, Dodgeville 0. Sugar River had 22 shots on goal while Dodgeville had 7.
The Sarbacker family, in memory of A.J. “Jim” Sarbacker, donated nine telescoping flag poles which will fly the military branches of service, WWII, Korean and Vietnam flag on special flag days. Joann and LeRoy Freitag donated funds for anchoring the flag poles and to help landscape the area. Sullivan Landscaping was in charge of the labor and materials for the project.
A brand new ambulance went into service for the Belleville Area EMS on August 22, 2019. The new ambulance allows our service to provide the most reliable form of medical transportation, which is critical, particularly in rural communities.
On September 19, 2019, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Belleville Fire Department was called to a tractor fire on CTH A in the Town of Montrose. Upon arrival it was discovered that there were multiple tractors, other equipment, and many large hay bales on fire in an open feed lot. In addition to Belleville Fire, Belleville EMS and Belleville Police, New Glarus, Verona, Fitchburg, Mount Horeb, Brooklyn, Monticello and McFarland Fire departments assisted on scene. It was reported that 21,950 gallons of water was used to fight the fire.
