2019 Wrap Up for Belleville Fire Department
January 9, 2020
The Belleville Fire Department wishes to thank the community for another safe year and we remain humbled by the great support we continue to receive from the community. With the support we have received from the Belleville Fire and EMS District, and the generous community donations, 2019 saw a significant increase in our capabilities to serve the community. These increased capabilities include the delivery of a new Rescue Squad vehicle and the addition of water rescue equipment and grain bin rescue equipment.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the dedication of our members and the families that support them. Where so many communities have struggled to recruit and retain fire fighters, the Belleville Fire Department has maintained adequate numbers of volunteers. 2019 has seen the retirement of several long-time members who leave big shoes to fill; if you can fill those shoes we welcome your application.
In 2019, the Belleville Fire Department responded to 166 calls, down slightly from the 170 calls for service in 2018. We were fortunate to have no fire related deaths or injuries; unfortunately we had an estimated $830,000.00 in property loss from fire. Of the 166 calls here are some statistics:
48% - Village of Belleville
29% - Town of Montrose
26% - EMS Assist
19% - Motor Vehicle Crash
11% - Utility Emergencies
10% - Town of Exeter
10% - Mutual Aid Given
6.5% - Structure Fires
5.5% - Carbon Monoxide Alarms
4% - Grass/Outside Fires
3% - Town of Oregon
0.5% - Town of Brooklyn
Again, we thank you, the community, without whom we cannot do what we do. To donate or volunteer you can find us at http://www.bellevillefd.org.
