Albion Swords and the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to brighten 2nd Street! In the spring of 2020, the east wall of the Albion Swords building, at 421 2nd Street, where the New Glarus Foods logo is currently located, will be painted with a colorful mural to enliven the street and increase visitor foot traffic.
A mural steering committee has been formed with the following members: Bekah Stauffacher and Annie O’Connor (New Glarus Chamber of Commerce), Mike Sigman (Albion Swords), Kaye Gmur and Michael Ganshert (Village Design Review Committee), and Kathy King (local artist). This committee will define the purpose of the artwork and the primary qualities desired, and will oversee the search for an artist. The artist will be chosen based on portfolio strength and past mural experience, and preference will be given to Green County artists.
