New Glarus Family Festival Celebrates 10th Year

Ten years ago the members of Grace Church of New Glarus determined that they wanted to do something special for the people of New Glarus and the area communities. The outcome was a festival planned especially to provide an afternoon of enjoyment for every age and each family member. The most unusual factor about the New Glarus Family Festival would be that EVERYTHING WOULD BE FREE and no offerings received at the festival! The cost for the festival has risen in recent years to about $40,000, which the members of Grace Church have enthusiastically donated to make it possible. In recent years the Bible Church of New Glarus has partnered with Grace Church and contributed as well. Also, last year and this year some businesses and individuals have requested to contribute financially.
The Festival, which is always the Sunday after Labor Day, will be on September 10th this year at the New Glarus Village Park, beginning at 11:45 a.m. The attendance has grown each year to well over 5,000 the last three years. The festival offers activities and entertainment for all ages and everything is free including Brats, Hot Dogs and Lemonade etc.
The headliner entertainment this year is Zach Williams & Band. Zach’s song Chain Breaker hit #1 nationally on the Christian charts and also received a lot of secular air time. The Link Union Band will be returning again this year performing some of their hits, as well as hits from their new genre as Dawson Hollow. Also returning is A.J. The World’s Most Animated Illusionist. The Car Show has grown each year also with owners bringing some of the most beautiful, amazing and valuable “treasures” in the area. Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, many games, Giant Slide, Corn Box, Face Painting and other fun children’s activities make it a memorable special day for the kids.
