Avis R. Hendrickson

Avis Rosella Hendrickson, age 91, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017, at the New Glarus Home.  She was born on July 25, 1926, on the home farm in the town of York, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Melvin and Alena (Gulson) Gilbertson.

She was united in marriage to Homer Hendrickson on November 26, 1945, in the Adams Lutheran Church.  They farmed together their whole married lives in the Mount Horeb and Blanchardville areas.  She was a lifelong member of the Adams Lutheran Church, and was active in the Women of the ELCA.  Avis was a member of the Adams Homemakers for many years.  She enjoyed visits with family, growing beautiful flowers, and was especially proud of establishing their home farm in March of 1968.  Spending time with her grandchildren and going to their activities was a highlight of her life.  A particularly fond memory was fishing trips with the grandchildren to Yellowstone Lake, followed by ice cream.  The family appreciated Mom and Dad's lefse making skills.
