Ronald N. Lovaas

Ronald Norman Lovaas passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 5, 2017, at the age of 76.  He was born on June 11, 1940, in Beloit, WI, the son of Marcella and Norman Lovaas.

Ron graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1957, and served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962. He was an Electronics Technician aboard the USS Ranger.  After his discharge he attended college under the GI bill, graduating from UW-Platteville.  While attending college he married Jeanette Newhausen, mother of three children from a previous marriage, and in 1969 had twins, Kenny and Kari.  He met his current wife, Dee, while living in Mount Horeb, WI, and they married on December 31, 1990. He welcomed a new stepdaughter, Linda, into his life.  Ron and Dee had many common interests, including traveling, photography, reading and a love of nature.  He had a long successful career operating his own insurance agency, and upon retiring, sold the agency to his stepdaughter, Linda, and grandson, James.  Ron and Dee then built their dream home in the countryside of New Glarus where Ron took on the family's genealogy as a hobby, which he shared at many family gatherings.

He is survived by his mother, Marcie; wife, Dee; son, Kenny (Carmen) Lovaas; daughter, Kari (Tony) Nichols; stepson, Kevin Gayton; stepdaughter, Linda Kraus; brother, Richard (Cathy) Lovaas; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Norman Lovaas; stepson, David Gayton; and stepdaughter, Sherry Dunlavy.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Erickson Funeral Home, 801 Milwaukee Street, Argyle, with Rev. Jennifer Kuhnert of Adams Lutheran Church officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at Dee's home.
