The Friends of the Belleville Public Library have gotten some wonderful donations for their silent auction, which will run from April 7-27. Stop by the Library to make your bids. Treat yourself or acquire a special gift for someone. Proceeds will benefit the Library's building fund.
Have you visited your local library lately? National Library Week is a great time to stop by and take a look around. The staff at Belleville Public Library would be happy to give you a quick tour and answer your questions about what your library can do for you.
This year's theme – Libraries Transform – focuses on how local libraries transform their communities by providing a wealth of materials and services that make a difference in people's lives. Libraries support lifelong learning, provide access to computers and the internet, support job searchers, and build children's literacy skills.
Explore how robots transform our world at an event for the whole family on Saturday, April 8, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Madison College and Quest Industrial will do demonstrations about industrial robots and talk about career opportunities in this growing field. Stop by our drop-in stations to try iPad apps and get ideas for home experiments powered by toothbrush motors.
Kids will enjoy the world of Mo Willems (the author of the Pigeon and the Elephant and Piggy books) during their early release afternoon on Monday, April 10, starting at 1:30 p.m. Enjoy games, readers theater, crafts, and snacks.
On Tuesday, April 11, the Belleville Garden Club will host a presentation about Hummingbirds. Social time with refreshments starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7:00 p.m.
We have wonderful library patrons and will be serving cake on Wednesday to show our appreciation for how you make our workday meaningful and enjoyable.
At 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, those in grades 5-12 can make barefoot sandals at Pinterest to Project, our monthly craft program based (mostly) on Pinterest-inspired projects.
Become a celebrity on your very own READ poster. Stop by on Thursday, April 13, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., for your photo shoot.
On Friday we celebrate the power of good stories and promote early literacy with Storytime at 10:00 a.m., for preschoolers and their adults. Enjoy stories, a craft, and a snack.
