Local Groups Help Place Historical Marker
On a sunny, breezy September day, over one hundred people gathered in Stockbridge, Wisconsin, at the Old Indian Cemetery to honor and memorialize a war veteran. The only difference between this moving ceremony and many others that occur around the country today is this celebration was to honor a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War.
Another unexpected twist to this dedication ceremony, held near the shores of Lake Winnebago in Calumet County, was that all who gathered were there to honor a full-blooded Delaware Indian, originally from New Jersey.
