Wisconsin Farm to Table announces two locations for the third annual Farm to Table Dinners and Fundraiser. The first dinner is to be held on Friday, June 3, at the Penterman Farm, home of Holland's Family Cheese, LLC, outside of Thorp, WI. The second evening dinner is set for Saturday, July 30, at Sunburst Dairy, just north of Belleville, WI.
This elegant dining experience is designed to bring consumers and farmers together to explore the world of agriculture, focusing on animal care, environmental practices and the safe and pure food products we consume at our dinner tables throughout the year.
Wisconsin agriculture will be discovered through a unique on-farm culinary experience. Guests may explore the taste of Wisconsin's agricultural diversity from prestigious cheeses, wines, beef and beyond.
The evening's creations will be prepared and presented by local chef and self-proclaimed "farm kid," Tyler Sailsbery. Chef Sailsbery is the head chef and owner of The Black Sheep in Whitewater, where he works with local farmers to craft unique dishes, packed with fresh ingredients and divine flavors. Chef Tyler also works as the executive chef and general manager for Fin & Hooves, inside the Whitewater Country Club, which offers a casual and fun atmosphere, with a menu focused on local beef and fresh seafood.
Located at 200 W. Liberty Drive, Thorp, WI, the Penterman Farm will host Farm to Table Event attendees on the evening of Friday, June 3, 2016. Rolf Penterman began the Penterman farm in 2002, after emigrating from the Netherlands to Thorp. In 2003, Marieke Penterman joined her husband in the U.S., and has since built the Marieke Gouda brand of award-winning authentic Dutch Gouda Cheese all the way to the U.S. Grand Champion honors in 2013. That same year, the Pentermans added a state-of-the-art facility including a store and viewing area to experience the farm and cheese making, up close.
"An opportunity to open our farm to a culinary artist and host this event to launch June Dairy Month is very exciting for us," comments Marieke Penterman. "We love showcasing the great dairy industry in Wisconsin and are we are proud to share our story with an evening of good food, music and friendship."
Located at 1003 County Highway PB, Belleville, Sunburst Dairy and the Brown family will open their doors to Farm to Table event attendees on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Sunburst Dairy began in 1984, after Brian Brown's parents first purchased the farm about a mile from their original home. Since then, Brian and his wife, Yogi, along with help from their son, Cory, and daughter, Whitney, have taken over the operation - growing from milking and caring for 100 dairy cows to 500 dairy cows and running 700 acres of crops. The Browns ship their milk to Grande Cheese Company to make quality Italian cheese.
"We open our farm to a lot of tours but we are very excited to host a new group of people deeply interested in food," says Yogi Brown, part owner and operator at Sunburst Dairy. "We work hard to produce quality food and this meal event will be a great opportunity for attendees to enjoy the food and learn its story."
These storied dairy farms, coupled with Wisconsin's long-standing agricultural history, serve as prime locations to bring together consumers and farmers from around their respective regions. A farm tour is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. at both locations, followed by a cocktail hour and live music entertainment at 6:00 p.m., and concluding the evening's program with a catered dinner at 7:00 p.m.

The event is open to the public and specifically influential people in the surrounding region that are interested in learning more about agriculture and where their food originates. Wisconsin Farm to Table was established in 2013 to offer an on-farm experience, with farm tour, elegant dinner and to encourage dialogue between those interested in agriculture and where their food originates. Money raised from annual event is donated to a local non-for-profit of the host farm's choice.
