Monticello Library Celebrates National Library Week

Carolyn Seaver

The Monticello Public Library Staff celebrated National Library Workers' Day on April 12th. The Friends of the Library wish to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers, especially those in Monticello. Standing (L-R): Sharon Knight, Zoe Buehl, Carolyn Seaver. Seated: Sharon Briggs and Veronica Blumer.

This year the nation's libraries and librarians celebrated National Library Week, April 10th – 16th. The theme for 2016 National Library Week was "Libraries Transform."

Libraries are transforming lives and communities by providing free access to technology, career development resources, and the skills to help people thrive in the digital age. We truly appreciate the services they provide, not only during National Library Week, but also through out the year.

Thank you for your hard work, dedication and expertise.

We encourage all residents to visit the library in person or online this week to take advantage of all the wonderful ways libraries transform lives.

The Monticello Public Library staff will celebrate the week by providing activities each day, such as "cake for patrons" day, a shredded book guessing game, providing materials for patrons to make a "book spine" bookmark, butterflies from book pages, and taking photos of patrons with their favorite book and then mounting them on discarded book pages and hanging them near Zoe's "recycling" bulletin board.

Please join the library staff by visiting the library and celebrating National Library Week with them.
