Monticello Community Club to hold 18th Annual Chickaree
Sunday, January 31, 2016
The Chickaree is an event that Monticello Community Club started in conjunction with the Lion’s Fisheree.
The Community Club will be grilling chickens again this year. Half chickens will be sold at $6.00 (not a complete dinner…just chicken). These chickens are the same chicken that is cooked at Homecoming; however, opinion has it, they’re even better tasting!
You must order your chicken in advance. Preorder forms are available at Gempeler’s Supermarket, Greenwoods State Bank and the local taverns. Indicate your name, phone number and quantity of half chickens you would like. If you are home-bound and have no one to pick up your chicken, please indicate that when you order the chicken at the above locations. The Community Club will deliver the chicken between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
On the day of the chickaree, all preordered chicken must be picked up between 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., at the Octagon Shelter. After that time any extra chicken will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Please make any checks out to Monticello Community Club. Preordering is the only way to go; otherwise, you might be out in the cold!
Unless there is a blizzard and/or high winds, we promise to grill chicken. Cold weather will not hinder the Community Club members from grilling your chicken.
If you would like to help cook chickens, call the Head Cluck Mark Wittenwyler at (608) 938-4921 or Wade Wittenwyler at (608) 938-4463. You don’t have to be a Community Club member to help!
