Road Rally Date Set for November 7

We are busy working out the details on this year’s plan! Driving has been a big part of that; straining the brain has been the other part! Barely down the road the other day have we spotted a motorcycle coming at us? We were both approaching a stop sign so we were not up to full speed. He had no helmet, but had a full face mask; like Halloween, scary movie, maybe a burglar disguise! It was weird!!

Sometime later in the day, we stopped to check out why another car had stopped on the road, only to find out they were getting a great big turtle off the road so its life would continue on.

We get excited anytime we see ‘wildlife’! We doubt you will be running into any of those by the time we get to the road rally! I can also tell you that I had to get the smart phone out to get us back to civilization when we were ready to be done for the day! I’m still not sure how or what I am doing with it, but it worked! It mapped out the route AND was talking to us. I have no idea how to shut it up! What IS important is the date of NOVEMBER 7TH, the time is 8 o’clock, and the place is THE STATION in Belleville. Please do not park prior to 7:00 a.m. on that morning. Please make sure you come up to the table to register and also to stay in numerical order.

We stuff 40 bags full of registration sheets, answer sheets, rules for the ride, and the dreaded FAILSAFE. You never want to open this unless you are sure you want to give up. If you have to do that, we need a phone call so we know that we don’t have to send out the Calvary to be looking for you. After all, we are waiting at (we cannot tell you as that, is a secret) but you know it is called the final stop! What we would really like is to send out as many cars as we have prepared for! That would be awesome! We hope you share this information with others so that they can participate, have a great day, fight with their best friends, try to convince the rest of the car that you are right and should go the direction that YOU want to go, or stuff the car with enough people that you will be warm and will not be freezing all day if the weather is more ‘winter like’ than we planned.

Please leave space for your reference material, or the genius you bring along…also, you might want to have your eyes checked so you have the best prescription for contacts or glasses.

We have discovered that I can read some signs more easily than the driver. This also happened when looking for a street sign to take my grandson to his football game on Saturday. He said, “how can you see that Grandma? I don’t even have glasses and I couldn’t read that.” Dear daughter, he might need his eyes checked….I want to add here that my driver spots things that are buried, covered in debris, or hidden behind things way quicker than I do. For some odd reason, she has such a knack for this! It is called experience. She HAS that!

Each year we find things the last few weeks prior to this event that we will use for future years. We are always planning, always scheming, always on the lookout. We talked about next year as well. It’s a part of us, in our blood, always on the brain. As long as we can drive, we will be planning this for you. We will just need people to climb poles, trudge through the ditches and up hills to staple up the UFOs!!!
