Glenn Schmid
Glenn Schmid, age 86, passed away at his home. He was born on February 15, 1929, in the Town of Adams, rural Green County, to his parents, Christ and Bertha (Stauffacher) Schmid.
Glenn graduated from Monticello High School in 1947. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After returning from service, he farmed for many years. In 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Jackson at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello; the couple later divorced. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a fan of all sports, especially baseball.
Glenn is survived by his sons, Rusty (Teresa) Schmid of Monticello, WI, and Mike (Jodie) Schmid of Rolla, MO; and daughter, Sherry (Tom) Bocklund of Ferryville, WI; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Henry (Fran) Schmid of Monroe, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alvin and Robert; sisters, Suzann and Marion; and a great-granddaughter.
A graveside service with full military honors was held at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at the Washington Reformation Church Cemetery, N6026 Church Road, Monticello, WI, the Rev. Roger Olsen officiated.
A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, August 28, 2015, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus.
