Charlotte Hawkins Kehm Cassidy
Charolette Hawkins Kehm Cassidy, age 88 of Mount Horeb, formerly of Albany, died on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, surrounded by family. She was born on September 27, 1926, in Brodhead, the daughter of Dean and Laura (Williams) Hawkins and attended Brodhead High School and Blackhawk Technical College.
Charolette and Vernus Cassidy were married on November 29, 1987, at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe.
Charlotte was a Cosmetologist and salon owner for 18 years in Monticello, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, she loved to bowl, dance and spend time with her loving grandchildren. Since 1987 she spent her winter months in Florida.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Sue) Thompson of Janesville, WI, Kenlyn (Roger) Walmer of Monticello, Karla (Randall) Smith of South Wayne, Kelvin (Marjorie "Jean" Blum) Blaser of Monroe, Kolleen (Charlie Welty) Kehm of Monroe, Kristine (Thomas) Armitage of Brodhead, Karen (Thomas) Kehm-Hefty of Mount Horeb, William (Mary) Kehm of Grants Pass, OR, Janet Helwig of Durand, IL, and Jeffrey Kehm of Albany; step-children, David (Barbara) Cassidy, Cheryl (John) Jonovic, William Cassidy, Scott (Barbara) Cassidy; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Don (Rita) Hawkins of Avon Park, FL, and Eben (Grace) Robertson of Monroe; sisters, NoraBelle (Wayne) Nipple of Albany, and Karen (Bill) Bohn of Janesville; and daughters-in-law, Margaret Thompson of Janesville and Judy Kehm of Monticello.
She is predeceased by her parents, Dean and Laura Hawkins, Alma Hawkins; grandparents, Judd and Lucillia Newcomer Hawkins and Peter and Nellie King Williams; husbands, Robert Thompson, Melvin Blaser, Ralph Kehm and Vernus Cassidy; daughter, Kathryn Kehm; sons, Robert Thompson and Bruce Kehm; brother, Martin Robertson; son-in-law, Chuck Helwig; and sister-in-law, Dee Hawkins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday until time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 5:00 p.m., at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Drive and N. 18th Avenue in Monroe, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating.
