The Windows Of History

Two local historians will give you some of the tools and clues to begin a basic research of a piece of property. Linda Schiesser and Kim Tschudy have teamed up and will be giving a presentation entitled “The Windows of History”. The public is invited to attend this talk at 7:00 p.m., at the Albany Historical Museum on Tuesday, September 15. Linda and Kim will bring their strengths to the presentation. As a present and a past member of the New Glarus Historic Preservation Commission, both learned early in their lives that there are many rich hidden treasures around us, one being the buildings.

Kim has done the preliminary paperwork on many properties that are now in the National Register of Historic Places, as well as authoring local history books. He will talk about identifying architectural styles, relating helpful hints to the history of some buildings, and how builders and/or architects can be a guide.

Linda has researched many families and properties in the area, as well as collecting pictures of buildings, especially within New Glarus. She will give you some steps to researching a piece of property and what primary and secondary documents are available to you.
