The 16th Annual FLOG Golf Outing was held at the Edelweiss Chalet Country Club in New Glarus on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
This annual fundraiser event for ladies only involves 9 holes of golf, followed by dinner and a program. There was also a silent auction, raffle and wine pull to raise money to benefit two cancer related charities which support the local community. This year, those charities were Camp Kesem and Chix 4 a Cause. Both are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
Camp Kesem, run by UW-Madison college students, provides free summer camps for kids affected by a parent's cancer. When a parent is diagnosed with cancer, the joys of childhood are replaced with a new reality of cancer vocabulary, treatment and fears. As worried parents seek out support for their children, they discover there are very few services available for children of cancer patients...until they discover Camp Kesem.
Chix 4 a Cause helps people fighting cancer in Wisconsin by granting Gifts of Love-family outings, arts and cultural experiences, and/or payment of rent, utilities, and food. While based in West Bend, WI, Chix 4 a Cause is looking to expand its reach to the south-central area of Wisconsin.
