Public Safety Winners at American Legion Green County Conference

Two Brodhead and two New Glarus public safety personnel were winners of awards for public safety categories at the April meeting of the Green County Council of the American Legion. At the Conference in Albany, WI, on April 19, 2015, Lynn M. Johnston, Brian Shearer, Burt Boldebuck and Alexander Atwell were winners of the Emergency Medical Technician Award, the Firefighter Award, the Edward J. Ormsby Law and Order Award, and National Guard/Reservist Award, respectively.

Presentations were made by the Green County Commander of the Third District, Allen Fjelstad. These winners now compete for the Third District awards, which will be given at the Third District Spring Meeting in Soldiers Grove on April 25th.

The Swann-Gehr Post 197, commanded by Bruce Sutherland, nominated Johnston and Shearer. The Stuessy-Kuenzi Post 141, commanded by Steve Hodgson, nominated Boldebuck and Atwell. The awards are given annually by the American Legion to honor the efforts of public safety personnel in their communities for their dedication and sacrifices.
