This year's Belleville Community Picnic will still have the Chicken Dinner, Duck Draw, Raffle and Fireworks.

The Belleville Community Club has always done its best to keep up and support Belleville's great traditions, and will continue to do so. The Executive Committee has debated and discussed, and debated again: What do we do about Community Picnic in the midst of this unprecedented pandemic?
Tradition.
Did you know that in 1951 Belleville celebrated their Centennial? In 1952, Julian (J.C.) Francois and Doc Smith wanted to do a "thank you" Chicken BBQ for all the volunteers that helped at the Centennial. Well, they had so much fun that the tradition has continued all these years, and has grown to what it is today: a hell of a good time that also acts as the Club's main fundraiser each year. Fundraising that supports so many things throughout the year, including scholarships, flowers on Main, Boy/Girl Scouts, Lake Restoration, Library Fund, and many others.

While the 69th annual picnic is not officially canceled, the hard truth is that BCP 2020 will in no way look the same as in year's past. However, there are a small handful of events that we trust we can still have successfully and safely. We will be condensing Picnic to one day only this year.
So, mark your calendars for Sunday, August 9th, for the traditional: Chicken Dinner, Duck Draw, Raffle, and Fireworks.
Please remember that this virus demands our respect, and the Belleville Community Club will do all we can to make sure all are safe, and feel safe.
The easy thing to do would be to just cancel altogether. When we look at the big picture though, it's worth it. A lot of work, but everything the Community Club supports is worth it.

We will still need help, and volunteers. Chicken dinner prep, raffle ticket delivery, help the day of, etc. Please, if you're healthy, reach out if you are still willing to help in any way.
Thank you for your continued support of the Belleville Community Club. This was a very hard decision - please be kind. We know fun can be had in any situation; let's make that happen and keep the tradition going!
