Chuck Bigler, of Puempel's Olde Tavern in New Glarus, recently presented board members of the New Glarus Excellence in Education (EIE) Fund with a donation of $1,000. The funds for this donation came from money that was removed from the ceiling at Puempel's this year. With this donation, Chuck and Puempel's have now donated over $15,000 to local organizations with money from the ceiling fund, and the New Glarus EIE fund is greatly appreciative of their generosity.
The fund is an endowment that provides money to strengthen our school community by supporting projects within the New Glarus School District that may not otherwise be funded through tax dollars. Examples of projects that have been supported recently include: outdoor sand tables at the Elementary School, the guidance program's Blankets for Compassion, and the Stonefield Village and Bethel Horizons portions of the Wyalusing Field Trip for 6th graders. The EIE fund has provided over $45,000 in funding for numerous projects and activities since its founding in 2005. All donations to the fund are tax-deductible. You can donate to the fund by visiting http://www.cfsw.org/eie/new-glarus/ or by sending a check to: New Glarus Excellence in Education Fund, c/o Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, PO Box 733, Monroe, WI 53566.
