On Saturday, May 19, 2018, the New Glarus Friends of the Library held their annual Trivia Night. It was held at Edelweiss Golf Club from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Teams of up to eight players collaborated on answering four categories of questions. Far from humdrum categories included tasting seven different cheeses – how Sconnie! – and coming up with a blended name of two different celebrities from two clues and a blended photograph.

As each category's sheets were being scored, those winsome native lasses, the Heidi Men, had their own questions for instant prizes for some of the representatives from each team that were volunteered to participate.

As if all this wasn't interesting enough, new this year was a silent auction of a variety of items ranging from a two volume coffee-table-sized Audubon books with bird color plates donated by the library to fudge from Maple Leaf Cheese to many themed baskets, all appealing to a wide variety of interests.

At the end of the evening, the first, second, and third place teams were awarded handmade trophies. The trophies, covered with well-known cartoon figures, were handmade by Denise Anton Wright for the contest.

The Friends of the Library were able to raise money to help out various projects of the Library including one of the special summer programs for children. And in the process, many of us had quite a few laughs during the evening.
