Larry D. Sherven

Larry D. Sherven, age 71 of rural Belleville, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at his home. He was born on June 26, 1946 in Monroe, to his parents Orton and Esther (Knudtson) Sherven.

Larry was baptized and confirmed at York Memorial Lutheran Church. He graduated from New Glarus High School in 1964. On December 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Kvamme at the Mount Horeb Lutheran Church. The couple recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Larry enlisted in the US Army Reserve in 1965, and then entered active service in 1968. He then served in Vietnam with the 826th Ordnance Co. from October 14, 1968 to September 6, 1969. Larry served 12 terms as the clerk for the Town of Primrose until resigning in August of 1999. He also served as the Secretary of the Land Use Planning Committee for 13 years. Larry owned and operated SherData Services for over 30 years. He was very active with the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, he was a member of the VFW Post #5461 and served as the Commander from 1988 to 1996 and Post #10272, along with holding offices at the county, state, and national levels.

Larry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Lori (Josh Morris) Helker and Jodie (Richard) Grinstead; and grandson, Robert. He is further survived by his brothers, Verdean (Mary) Sherven, Jerome (Sylvia) Sherven, and Steve (Kristine) Sherven; sister-in-law, Janet Sherven; brother-in-law, Roger Stampfli; aunt, Helen Sherven; nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Larry is additionally survived by JoAnn's family uncles, Herman (Jeanne) Kvamme, Kenneth (Gerry) Anderson; and sister-in-law, Sue Kvamme.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sisters, Audrey Stampfli and Joyce Sherven; brother, Duane Sherven; nephew, Keith Sherven; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lola and Casper Kvamme; and brother-in-law, Al Kvamme.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with Rev. Mark Renner officiating. A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus on Thursday.
