2017 New Glarus Bike Rodeo

May 18, 2017

Sue Moen

The annual New Glarus Bike Rodeo was held on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Kids could learn about bike safety, and the first 50 kids got a free bike helmet. There was also a petting zoo and bounce house to enjoy. All kids were given a free t-shirt, as well as a "goodie bag" containing coloring books, stickers and coupons. Following the bike safety portion, a free lunch was offered and 17 bikes donated by local businesses were given away. A Note From the Chief

I would like to the pass along a big thanks to the community and all of our sponsors for last weekend's New Glarus Police Department Bicycle Safety Rodeo. It was a great day, the weather was fantastic and we had over 70 children participate in the program, which also included a bouncy house and a petting zoo. Each child that attended our event received a free T-shirt and a new bike helmet, along with a goodie bag containing a free kid's meal, a scoop of ice cream, a cookie token, a toothbrush with toothpaste and some sunscreen. After participating in the bicycle safety rodeo, everyone was treated to a free hot dog lunch. After lunch, we held our drawing and gave away 17 brand new bicycles.

It's only because of the generous donations from our sponsors and members of the community that make this special event possible. On behalf of the department, I would thank the following: RPM Motors, The New Glarus Co-op, Culver's, Judd's Auto Body, New Glarus Brewing Company, the Grace Church, The Alphornman Triathlon, Chalet Landhaus, The New Glarus Bakery, Kennedy's, Hoesly's Meats, Roy's Market, Midwest Dental, Old National Bank, UB&T, The Bank of New Glarus, BNG Investments, Absolute Interiors, Hair Dimensions, Classy Cleaners, New Glarus Motors, the New Glarus Police Department Community Relations Fund, the New Glarus Fire Department, New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services, the Village of New Glarus, the New Glarus School District, Jeff Judd and Dan Stolts for safety checking everyone's bike and all of the other wonderful volunteers, who donated their time to make this event successful.

I would like to give a special thanks to Susie Wiess, Mel Judd and the New Glarus Chamber of Commence for all of their help in coordinating and setting this event up.

Burt Boldebuck, Chief of Police
